Give It A Shot
It’s advising going a step further. You can use Give It A Shot in a few different ways: approach licensors for products, distributors, retailers or a mix of the three. The idea is to get selected contacts interested in your product. So your product must be at least a very good prototype if not a sample.

Diagnostic
– is it for you?
That’s the free bit. You are interested in the service. But to make sure no time is wasted I have to know what you need so that we waste no time during step 2. Also if there’s nothing I can do for you best to tell you early.
Please fill in the questionnaire. We might have talked about it but writing brings clarity (and I don’t mind if the spelling is not perfect at this stage).

Email me for a questionnaire and a quote: marion@mariongillet.com
Fill in form here.

2 Face-to-face meeting – getting it straight
From all the information you gave we assess the different routes to market. Also I give you directions for what you need to do to present the product to manufacturers, editors, retailers or distributors. By the end of the meeting we agree on priorities and set up achievable milestones.

3 Homework – and here are the savings
With comprehensive guidelines, you research within a clear and precise framework and fine tune details (materials, proportions, function, brand, etc…). It means that you are making considerable savings which you can do with at this stage!

4 Phone meeting – getting it ready to roll
We review and validate the work you did. Then clarify the details (if necessary) and refine the arguments. We then highlight what feedback you need and the questions to ask. It's the time to give the project realistic objectives and decide on what criteria I should choose the top 5 companies to contact.

5 Active Communication
So now we are clear on your needs and have the project ready to present to crucial contacts. I put you forward to the most appropriate contacts* and hand over the contacts list. I do the first round of calls, if necessary arrange meetings and host your introductions.

And after that?

Human Beans
www.humanbeans.net
This duo experiments with the cultural side of design and communicate their idea through exhibitions, installations, workshops and website. After one of their fictional products, the PowerPizza appeared in blogs, design and mainstream press orders queries became nearly un-manageable.

We worked to make most of these commercial opportunities. The product required an unusual mix of suppliers and the design at to be altered to make the product easier to assemble and more profitable.

PowerPizza was shipped worldwide stocked by various retailers such as Play.com, Maxfield, Gageit.com, Colette and exhibited at the MoMa.  All this generated further interest and press around the designers’ work.

Photographer David Gray had ideas to develop items that would convey and enhance his work. Besides looking for publishers and galleries he also needed to develop a coherent range to approach buyers of key boutiques.

First we worked on a range of card booklets from his self-published book Cunawabi.  I then assisted him in finding and approaching buyers at the ICA, The Photographers’ Gallery and Colette.
